Controlling our minds with Propaganda
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense.
Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't.
And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be.
And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”
Alice
In 1928, Edward L. Bernays, (called "The Father of Public Relations and Propaganda") authored a book entitled, 'PROPAGANDA", in which he delineated how to organize mass chaos and how propaganda can be used by an elite few to start wars and influence business, politics, literally every aspect of our lives.
The final chapter is entitled: The Mechanics of Propaganda. Here is an example:
"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government, which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by people we have never heard of.
During the 1950s the Central Intelligence Agency put tremendous amounts of research into perfecting the science of torture. The CIA conducted many covert experiments and concluded that the best methods for extracting information came not through the infliction of pain through physical torture, but through psychological torture. Although this brand of torture the CIA devised may not inflict physical pain, it can still do some real damage, as historian and expert on the subject of the CIA and torture, Alfred McCoy, writes:
“Although seemingly less brutal, no-touch torture leaves deep psychological scars.
The victims often need treatment to recover from trauma far more crippling than physical pain”.
In 1963, the Agency created the KUBARK Counterintelligence Interrogation Manual. ("KUBARK" being the code name for the CIA in Viet Nam) In the manual the methods for breaking subjects are based generally on psychology. Identifying a victim’s sense of self and then stripping it away is part of the first step toward breaking him or her. This manual set the stage for the introduction of an even more debilitating method of applied fear and confusion as a weapon of propaganda and mass manipulation.
The Power of Applied Confusion
The Alice in Wonderland Technique
The aim of the Alice in Wonderland Technique is to confound the expectations and conditioned reactions of the subjects. They are accustomed to a world that makes sense, at least to them: a world of continuity and logic, a predictable world. The subjects cling to this world to reinforce their powers of resistance. The confusion technique is designed not only to obliterate the familiar, but to replace it with the weird. Eventually, the subjects will break from the psychological pain and agree to accept a "new normal" in order to end the fear and confusion and accept what now appears to be a logical state of reality.
Fear confuses. Fear invades higher states of consciousness and destroys them. Fear is a mechanism of control and that control becomes easier when the subject is confused. That which is causing the fear need not be real, just perceived as real by enough people so as to confuse and fragment the population in order to put the confusion mechanism into gear.
We now see dramatic changes to daily life coming into view; from mass temperature checks and mandatory use of face masks to empty sports and entertainment venues to Orwellian government monitoring of cellphone location and other personal information. In China, authorities are using technology to track healthy people AND those the government claim pose a risk. Now Apple and Google are working together to help US authorities track individuals using Bluetooth technology. All of which is being accepted by the public as the new normal in order to end the psychological pandemic of confusion caused by the COVID-19 scare. In other words, what we’ve been being put through is literally torture.
Confusion from persistent false fear mongering can never spring from a truly enlightened consciousness. Just in knowing that it’s called the Alice in Wonderland Technique helps you to identify it when it’s happening and will allow you to distance yourself from the confusion that it is attempting to induce. Hopefully, this knowledge will help you to reset your cognitive boundaries and allow you to insulate yourself from the confusion during the attempted manipilation.
(Interrogation: Science and Art)
This is a compilation presenting papers on the subject of interrogation. While not a textbook on interrogation, this is a review of the present state of the practice with an analysis of what works and fails and with recommendations for new directions.
It was developed for and presented to the National Defense Intelligence College. These white paper contain interesting and surprising general information about the past, present, and future of interrogation and debriefing as well as what we know or don't know about the effectiveness of polygraphs, torture, and body language.
